3D Card using How Sweet It Is DSP

I was inspired to make this card by fellow demonstrator Karen Varley's First Steps Card. As soon as I saw her version, I thought it would look fabulous in the bright & cheery colours of the ‘How sweet it is’ suite.

I used a base card of Melon Mambo cardstock, and decorated it with the gummy bears paper from the how sweet it is DSP, and some fussy cut images from the cupcake paper in the same pack. I normally avoid fussy cutting, but I was really pleased with the results this time!

To make the images of the cupcakes ‘pop’ I cut backing circles in Gorgeous Grape (So well named - It really is Gorgeous!) with the Layering Circles Framelits, and made the easel card for the middle using the same framelits,  Melon Mambo cardstock, and the dotty Coastal Cabana sheet from the DSP.

I stamped the greeting on Whisper White cardstock, using Melon Mambo ink, and cut it with the Layering Ovals Framelits. I backed that with a scalloped oval, cut from the same sheet of Coastal Cabana DSP, and popped it up on dimensionals to complete the easel card.

I really love how it turned out, just the thing to brighten up this dreary weather we’re having at the moment!

Instructions:

Melon Mambo cardstock - 8 1/4 inches by 8 1/4  inches
score a cross in the middle by scoring 2 adjacent sides at 4 1/8”
Cut from the centre to one side along the score line.

On each of the 2 squares that are NOT adjacent to the cut, score a diagonal line from the top of the card where the score lines meet, to the side, again, where the score lines meet.

Fold & burnish the score lines

How Sweet it is DSP - 3 pieces cut at 3 7/8” by 3 7/8”. Cut 2 of these pieces in half diagonally and attach to the base card.

To make the easel card, select a scalloped circle framelit of your chosen size (I used the largest!) and a piece of cardstock of approximately 3 1/2” by 7”. Fold the cardstock in half and position the framelit so that the fold is just inside the edge of the framelit and won’t be cut.

Use another circle of cardstock, cut with the same framelit and decorations of your choice to complete the easel card.

This is what it should look like when it is folded out flat
